U.S. Dollar And Rates May Be Heading To New Highs

U.S. Dollar And Rates May Be Heading To New Highs
  • Rates Further To Climb
  • Dollar Strength
  • The Fed told markets what they didn’t want to hear. Rates would need to be higher than previously thought, and with that, rates across the curve and the are moving higher. Both rates and the dollar may have much further to climb before all is said and done.

This could especially be the case if overnight rates are heading above 5%, which is what the Fed Funds Futures are currently suggesting, and that means the rate will probably head towards 5%, and the entire curve will be taken higher with it.

Macroeconomic jitters further slow AWS growth in Q3

Macroeconomic conditions led by the pandemic and the geopolitical crisis in Ukraine have further slowed down growth of Amazon’s cloud computing unit, Amazon Web Services (AWS), in the third quarter of 2022.

Amazon on Thursday said AWS had raked in revenue of $20.5 billion for the quarter ended September 30, up 27.5% year-on-year.

However, revenue for AWS grew at 33% year-on-year at 19.74 billion in the previous quarter (ended June 30). For the quarter before that, revenue grew 36.5%.

The steady decline in growth can be attributed to macroeconomic conditions, due to which the company is seeing a slowdown in customer expenditure, company executives said during an earnings call.

Bitcoin weak hands 'mostly gone' as BTC ignores Amazon, Meta stock dip

  • Bitcoin hodlers shrug off Q3 tech results
  • Correlation has not gone away
  •

Huge tech stock losses, mostly occurring after the Wall Street close, fail to show up in Bitcoin price weakness.

Bitcoin (BTC) is decoupling from big tech as disappointing earnings fail to spark any major BTC price losses.

Economic data for Q3, 2022 saw heavy losses for some tech stocks, but BTC/USD avoided a chain reaction.

Two-thirds of Brits have been caught out by unexpected costs while abroad

Two-thirds of Brits have been caught out by unexpected costs while abroad

The top financial mishaps that have caused unexpected costs for holidaymaking Brits include not understanding exchange rates – and not haggling for an item when it is expected.

A poll of 2,014 adults found that one in ten (11%) have lost foreign currency while abroad – or had it stolen – while six in ten have been stung by fees for making withdrawals or debit card transactions overseas.

A further 12% have failed to understand exchange rates, and ended up wildly overpaying for something, while a fifth (22%) have been caught out paying hotel rates for excursions, that were cheaper elsewhere.

In all, two-thirds of travellers (65%) admit they have faced financial issues that have cost them cash while abroad.

This research, commissioned by HSBC UK to launch its new account, Global Money, allows customers to spend abroad (withdraw cash or make card purchases) without the bank charging fees.

Beautiful gain: £10bn World Cup and Xmas bonus looms

The UK advertising and marketing industry continues to defy the odds and is forecast to grow by 9.2% in 2022 to a total of £34.9bn – including a near £10bn boost in Q4 thanks to the Qatar World Cup and Christmas – although the sector is braced for a much rougher ride next year.

So says the the latest Advertising Association/WARC Expenditure Report, claimed to be the only to collect advertising revenue data directly from media owners across the entire landscape. However, the UK’s ad market is forecast to grow by just 3.9% in 2023, to a total of £36.2bn, while online advertising’s share of total adspend is set to grow to a total of 74% for 2022 and is expected to cross the three-quarters threshold (75.2%) in 2023.

3 Financial Tools to Help Reduce Stress

  • A Budget Can Reduce Stress
  • A Rainy Day Fund Can Reduce Stress
  • An Accountability Partner Can Reduce Stress
  • I recently found an old letter that I wrote to myself when I was very broke and extremely stressed. I wrote the letter and saved it so that I could look back and laugh. I knew that I would make it through that stressful time eventually. I was stressed because I needed to take care of the brakes on my car but I had no money! I was so scared that my brakes were going to give out on me before I had the chance to pay for them to be fixed. If I had simply saved some money in an emergency savings account, I could have saved myself the stress.
